les Diablerets, Switzerland 19-23 January 2026

We are excited to invite you to the 16th EuroConference for Rock Physics and Rock Mechanics – EUROCONF2026.

Set amidst the stunning landscape of Les Diablerets, Switzerland, this conference, taking place from January 19-23, 2026, promises an inspiring combination of cutting-edge scientific exchange and alpine adventure. Join us at the Eurotel Victoria Les Diablerets Superior for a week filled with transformative discussions, groundbreaking presentations, and exceptional networking opportunities.

EUROCONF2026 is centered on Pursuing Innovation in Rock Physics and Mechanics under Extreme Geological Conditions. This year’s theme reflects our commitment to understanding the most extreme environments on crustal Earth and addressing the urgent challenges of climate resilience and energy security.

As we navigate the growing impacts of climate change, rising energy demands, and geopolitical instability, rock physics and geomechanics are pivotal in advancing low-carbon technologies, mitigating natural hazards, and ensuring energy sustainability.

This conference offers a critical platform for collaborative solutions that push the frontiers of science and technology. Departing from traditional thematic boundaries, EUROCONF2026 introduces a bold new format focused on the extremes of the Earth’s crust—temperature, pressure, strain, strain rate, chemical environments, and scale. By integrating diverse disciplines and applications, we foster a more inclusive and interdisciplinary approach to geomechanics and rock physics research.

The opening day will be dedicated to early-career researchers, featuring workshops on innovative experimental design, followed by an unforgettable extreme apéro.

Outside the conference sessions, take the opportunity to experience the charm of the Swiss Alps—skiing, luge, and, of course, sharing a traditional Swiss fondue with colleagues.

Pack your skis, embrace the spirit of exploration, and join us in Les Diablerets for EUROCONF2026—where cutting-edge science meets the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss Alps.

We eagerly look forward to welcoming you!
